Another defeat, in Portugal, will set alarm bells ringing ahead of a return to Premier League action, but Sporting boast a fearsome home record having won their last nine in a row in front of their own fans.
Mikel Arteta will know even a narrow loss would be a positive result before next week’s return leg at the Emirates, and here’s how you can watch along.
Why isn’t Sporting vs Arsenal on TNT Sports tonight?
Though every other Champions League, Europa League and Conference League fixture is being shown live on TNT Sports this week, that is not the case for Sporting vs Arsenal.
That is because, as per the current shared broadcasting rights deal for Champions League football in the UK, Amazon Prime Video get the first pick of one match to show live on Tuesday nights up until the semi-finals.
Their coverage begins at 6.30pm GMT.
Amazon Prime Video will continue to show a first-pick game live on Tuesday nights as part of the next Champions League broadcasting deal in the UK, which kicks in from 2027 with Paramount+ having recently won the rights in a bumper deal said to be worth in excess of £1billion.
The BBC will also continue to show free-to-air highlights of the competition on Wednesday nights.
Meanwhile, as of 2027/28, exclusive broadcasting rights for the Europa League and Conference League in the UK will go to Sky Sports.
