The January transfer window is officially open. Clubs can now sign players for the next month in a bid to ramp up their chances of success in the 2022/23 season – and few teams are hoping for bigger than Arsenal.

Christopher Nkunku is also on the verge of having his Stamford Bridge switch sealed while Andrey Santos has signed his £12.5m deal and Benoit Badiashile is set to join for £33m. New Arsenal bid for Mudryk
Arsenal have now made their second transfer bid for Mykhaylo Mudryk.
According to Foot Mercato, the Gunners have launched an unspecified offer having seen a £45m approach rebuffed.
Shakhtar Donetsk want as much as £85m for Mudryk but this latest report states all parties are confident of reaching an agreement with the January window now open.
Chelsea in Fernandez FFP fears
Standard Sport understand Financial Fair Play issues are behind Chelsea’s decision to negotiate over Enzo Fernandez.
Benfica would be powerless to stop the Blues taking up Fernandez’s £105m release clause.
But Chelsea want to spread their payments over a number of seasons to keep in line with financial rules.

Why Benfica want a big fee for Fernandez
One big reason Benfica want the full £106m fee for Enzo Fernandez is his sell-on clause.
The Chelsea target has a sizeable 25 per cent stipulation in his contract that will divert a quarter of his next transfer fee to River Plate.
That would amount to a chunky £26m.
Spurs near Porro deal
Tottenham are on the verge of signing Pedro Porro.
The Daily Star claim a £35m deal is in the offing for the right wing-back.
The deal could signal the end of Emerson Royal’s stay in north London.
