Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham continue to make progress on recruiting signings during the January transfer window. The Gunners know they must bolster their title-chasing squad as they look to win a first Premier League crown in two decades. Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk continues to be their priority target, and the club continue to hope a compromise can be found on the asking price. Should a deal not be reached, the Gunners are exploring a shock loan move for Eden Hazard.
Chelsea have already made three January signings, though all three are younger talent with an eye on the future, and are closing in on a fourth addition with the loan arrival of Joao Felix with Atletico Madrid. Chelsea may also turn to World Cup finalist Marcus Thuram in an effort to strengthen their attack, while new arrival David Datro Fofana could be sent out on loan this month.
Tottenham have joined Chelsea in the race for Brighton’s Leandro Trossard, while Sporting right-back Pedro Porro remains a target and Jordan Pickford and David Raya are potential options to succeed captain Hugo Lloris, who yesterday confirmed his retirement from international duty. Arsenal hope for Mudryk compromise
Mykhaylo Mudryk has travelled with Shakhtar Donetsk to their mid-season training camp as Arsenal seek a breakthrough in talks for the winger, writes Simon Collings.
Arsenal have had two bids rejected for Mudryk, with the second of those worth around £60million, but they remain in negotiations with Shakhtar.
An agreement has not been found yet, but it is hoped a compromise can be found on Shakhtar’s asking price of £85m.
Mudryk has expressed a desire to join Arsenal. However, with no agreement in place, he travelled with Shakhtar on Tuesday morning to their mid-season training camp in Turkey.

Sneijder: Weghorst interest must be stunt
It’s fair to say Wesley Sneijder is not impressed with Manchester United’s pursuit of Wout Weghorst.
It remains to be seen whether Man United can reach a deal with Besiktas and Burnley, but Sneijder does not see the logical of the club moving for his fellow Dutchman.
“I think they’ve seen the trick with the free kick (against Argentina at the World Cup), so they don’t fall for that in England anymore,” Sneijder told VP.
“In terms of striker, is he really someone United are waiting for? I don’t think so.
“They still have 300 of those in the Premier League. It must be a stunt. This really can’t be true.”
Inter open to Dumfries sale
Inter Milan could be willing to let Denzel Dumfries leave this month.
The Dutch full-back was linked with both Chelsea and Manchester United in the summer, and talk of a move to Stamford Bridge is starting again as the Blues look to cope with Reece James’ injury problems.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim that while Inter would prefer any sale to take place in the summer, they would be happy to let Dumfries leave in January should a club meet the €60m valuation.
Atletico consider Aubameyang
Atletico Madrid are reportedly eyeing a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Joao Felix is on the verge of sealing a loan move to Chelsea from the La Liga side and, according to AS, Aubameyang could move the other way as Atletico look for cheap options to bolster their attacking options.
Andre Silva and Marcus Thuram are being considered too, but Atletico believe they can secure a cheap deal for Aubameyang considering his struggles at Stamford Bridge.
En-Nesyri reluctant to join West Ham
West Ham have reportedly agreed a deal with Sevilla for Youssef En-Nesyri, but the forward is unwilling to join the Premier League side.
Once again the Hammers are in for the 25-year-old, and AS claim that a loan deal for the rest of the season with an obligation to buy for €25m in the summer has been accepted by Sevilla.
However, En-Nesyri does not want to join West Ham, who are still hoping to convince the player this month.
Weghorst trains with Besiktas
Besiktas continue to maintain that Wout Weghorst will not leave the club this month.
Despite Manchester United’s attempts to force through a move and agree a deal with Burnley to terminate his loan in Turkey, Besiktas are not budging and the striker trained with the club this morning.
The Express report that Vincent Aboubakar, a potential replacement should Weghorst leave, is still in discussions with Al-Nassr over the termination of his contract after Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival.
Neville still hopeful of Messi move
Phil Neville says Inter Miami have not given up on bringing Lionel Messi to the club.
A move to the MLS had appeared on the cards for Messi, with his contract at PSG up at the end of the season. However, recent reports suggest a new deal with the Ligue 1 side has now been agreed and the 35-year-old will remain in France.
That has not stopped the Inter Miami boss from believing the club can still sign Messi.
“We want to bring the best players in the world to this club and he is probably the best player, so for us the landscape has not changed at all,” Neville said.
“With any deal for any DP (Designated Player) of that level, it’s complicated. It takes time.”

Harry Kane is at the top of Manchester United’s shortlist as they eye a new striker in the summer.
The club are pushing to sign Wout Weghorst for the rest of the season, but attention will then turn to longer-term options. ESPN report that Kane is a big target, with Man United believing they will be the most attractive option for the striker should he leave Tottenham.
Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is also on the shortlist, as is Benjamin Sesko despite RB Leipzig already agreeing a deal with sister club Salzburg for the 19-year-old.
Arteta looking for January arrivals
Mikel Arteta hopes Arsenal will be able to strengthen in forward areas this month.
The Gunners continue to push for Mykhaylo Mudryk and are now linked with Eden Hazard, as they look to bolster their forward line with Gabriel Jesus out injured. Eddie Nketiah is currently the only senior striker in the squad.
“The problem is, we only have one [striker] and to cope for that many months until Gabi is back is not easy but we have to get the most out of the players that we have at the moment,” Arteta said after his side’s win over Oxford last night.
“If we can have some reinforcements, great.”
Koopmeiners staying at Atalanta
Teun Koopmeiners has addressed recent speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool.
The Atalanta player is one of many midfielders the Reds are rumoured to be interested in, but the 24-year-old has no plans to leave the Serie A side.
“I saw the links and stories about Liverpool — nice to see that but I’m 100% focused on Atalanta,” he said.
“I’m so happy to play here.”
