Top 7 TikTok Trends of 2024: Stay Ahead of the Curve

FashionTop 7 TikTok Trends of 2024: Stay Ahead of the Curve

[ad_1]

TikTok is one of the most popular platforms in the world, going so far as surpassing Google in 2021. The super influential social media app is one of the best barometers of trending topics, creating trends, and making or breaking careers.

When it comes to lifestyle and fashion, TikTok is the place to be if you want to know what’s in and what’s out. Viral trends come and go on TikTok, but some have remarkable staying power. Gen Z, the main user base of TikTok, has promoted the emergence of midsize, readopted “vintage” Y2K fashion’s favourites, and embraced everything from Barbie core to mermaid core, soft girl aesthetics, and wrong shoe theory.

To find out what lifestyle and fashion TikTok trends are already going viral for 2024, read on.

1. The Wolf Haircut

Every celeb has sported this trending haircut, from Jenna Ortega to Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish.

The idea is to merge two old school cuts—the 70s shag cut and the 80s mullet—and make it very much of the moment.

Laid-back and layered, the wolf cut is all about movement, with shorter layers on the top and longer layers on the sides and back.

Said to suit most people, the wolf haircut can be worn short or long and is surprisingly versatile.

TikTok is in love with 3,850% keyword growth in February 2024. It may be time for a trip to the hairdresser?

2. Y2K Fashion

Oh no, it’s back! For those who’ve lived through the original Y2K, the idea that the fashion of the noughties is back may give you nightmares.

Y2K fashion is not going anywhere, however, with the aesthetic trending for months.

For some unfathomable reason, Gen Z is loving ballet flats, barely-there minis, and, oh dear, puka shell necklaces.

It’s not all bad, however, with some slightly less divisive items making a comeback: think crochet, body chains, baguette bags, and loose tailoring. All trends we can possibly get behind.

UGGs, low-rise jeans, and trucker hats are also back, which may not be to everyone’s tastes. Pick and choose which bits of the 2000s you want back, and embrace a trip down memory lane.

3. Mighty Patch

On the skincare front, Mighty Patch is making a splash on TikTok.

Reviews abound, and with a 4.5-star rating on Amazon, we don’t see Mighty Patches going anywhere soon.

The product, created by Hero Cosmetics, are stickers that flatten and absorb pimples. We know picking at your zits is a big no-no, so instead of popping, TikTok is advising us that applying stickers to our blemishes is a much better option.

Made from medical-grade hydrocolloid, the original Mighty Patches promise to “absorb gunk in 6–8 hours”.

4. Old Money Aesthetic

The ‘Mob Wife’ aesthetic may be trending, but so is its direct opposite: ‘Old Money’. The successor to the quiet luxury of the old money aesthetic is about how you show your wealth through your clothes.

Old money is wealth that’s been inherited instead of earned, and shows like Succession and Gossip Girl have fueled our obsession with what that actually looks like, fashion-wise.

Tennis-core, equestrian trends, coastal grandmothers, and quiet luxury are all part of old money.

The good news is that you don’t have to actually have old money to achieve the ‘Old Money’ look. Elevated basics and quiet luxury items, vintage icons, and “posh pastimes’ uniforms can all be yours for a fraction of the price on reselling platforms.

5. Vintage Kitten Heels

Vintage kitten heels are trending on TikTok. The practical low-heeled shoes are perfect for most occasions, so we understand why people would be obsessed with them.

Comfortable enough to wear all day but adding style to the most casual of outfits, kitten heels are the hero shoes we’d forgotten we needed.

This isn’t necessarily a new trend, as kitten heels have been popping up for the past few years, but if TikTok is to be believed, 2024 could be the year of comfy heels.

6. Denim Maxi Skirt

In a very Y2K manner, denim maxi skirts are apparently back too. For 2024, we’re not embracing the head-to-toe denim of Britney, instead opting for chic maxi skirts that fit like a glove.

Form-fitting and supposedly fitting everybody, the denim maxi skirt comes in an array of styles, from floor-length to slits, white to stone-wash blue denim.

Styling a denim maxi skirt couldn’t be easier; just think of them as your new trusted pair of jeans, just roomier.

7. TikTok Shop

TikTok has introduced a new e-commerce feature, so of course, the TikTok shop is trending.

Be ready to see more and more creators, influencers, and brands selling products directly on the platform.
