Key Background

Tata Motors has formally launched the Harrier.ev, a revolutionary electric SUV on the acti.ev+ platform, which is a major boost to India’s electric vehicle market. The car comes in two battery variants—a 65 kWh pack propelling a rear-wheel-drive system and a 75 kWh pack with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive (labeled QWD) options.

The 65 kWh RWD model has an estimated ARAI range of 538 km, whereas the 75 kWh variants (RWD and AWD) have a segment-best 627 km. Estimated real-world ranges are between 440–505 km based on driving conditions. The AWD variant is the most powerful at 390 bhp and 504 Nm of torque, going from 0 to 100 km/h in merely 6.3 seconds.

Charging abilities are one of the major positives. With a 120 kW DC fast charger, the Harrier.ev is capable of offering 250 km of range in just 15 minutes. It takes approximately 25 minutes to get fully charged from 20% to 80%. Tata also offers home charging support through 3.3 kW and 7.2 kW AC variants, as well as bidirectional Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) capabilities.

The Harrier.ev will come in Adventure, Fearless, and Empowered versions, with a later-only Stealth Edition as well. The RWD models are priced between ₹21.49 lakh and ₹27.49 lakh, while the AWD ones will be priced to be revealed soon. Bookings begin from July 2, 2025.

Within the cabin, Tata has filled the Harrier.ev with high-end technology such as a 14.5-inch Samsung QLED touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, JBL Dolby Atmos sound system, and segment-first Summon mode. Safety features are wide-ranging, with Level-2 ADAS, a 540° camera, off-road modes, and terrain response systems.

The Harrier.ev joins a competitive space, going up against competitors such as Mahindra XUV.e9, Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, and BYD Atto 3. With long range, robust performance, and premium features at ICE-parity prices, Tata Motors is looking to own India’s mid-size EV SUV space with this launch.
