Israel launches ‘preemptive strike’ on Iran as explosion rocks Tehran

Israel’s defence minister, Israel Katz, said a state of emergency had been declared across Israel. Sirens sounded across Israel at the time of the attack on Iran. The Israeli military said the sirens were a “proactive alert” in case of retaliatory attacks.
