Riyadh Fashion Week 2025 saw a spectacular return from Hydra Design London, which once again took the reins as the creative and technical lead from 16–21 October. In a bold fusion of fashion, architecture and landscape, the London-based studio delivered 28 immersive runway shows across five striking venues, turning Riyadh into a stage for both global fashion and Saudi identity.
A Six-Day Celebration of Fashion and Innovation
Across six days, 28 designers showcased their collections — including British icons Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney. The event celebrated craftsmanship, sustainability and innovation, all brought to life through Hydra’s refined creative direction.
This marked Hydra Design’s second year as the event’s creative and technical lead, responsible for lighting design and technical production. Guided by a minimalist yet emotional philosophy, Hydra crafted an aesthetic language that explored the connection between architecture, light and purpose.

Transforming Riyadh’s Landscape into a Fashion Stage
From raw desert cliffs to glass-walled skyscrapers, Hydra Design London transformed every location into a visual world that echoed each designer’s story while grounding it in Saudi Arabia’s diverse natural and urban environments.
Highlights included:
- A runway carved through desert mountains, reflecting the sculptural serenity of the landscape.
- A Jax District industrial showcase, charged with streetwear energy.
- A palm farm transformed into a catwalk, where light and shadow danced between the trees.
- A sky-high glass venue, offering panoramic city views for a futuristic finale.
Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney Lead the Week
Opening the week, Vivienne Westwood’s show unfolded beneath a canopy of palms, where Hydra’s lighting carved sculpted ribbons through the trunks — a poetic nod to the house’s rebellious grace.
Stella McCartney’s closing show rose high above Riyadh’s skyline, framed by glass, geometry and light. Hydra’s design created an airy, fluid atmosphere that reflected McCartney’s sustainable modernity.

Precision, Technology and Emotion
“At Hydra, we believe lighting design is about more than technology; it’s about creating a seamless dialogue between space, brand, and audience,” said Samuel Pearson and Daniel Acland, Co-Founders of Hydra Design. “Our approach is rooted in precision and intention — ensuring every audience member experiences the show as it was meant to be seen.”
Behind the scenes, every show was surveyed, drafted in 3D and previsualised, ensuring visual harmony across live audiences, broadcast cameras and social media lenses. This attention to detail reflects Hydra’s holistic approach to modern fashion production design — balancing artistry with engineering precision.
A Global Creative Force
From desert heat to rooftop venues, Hydra’s team adapted to each designer and environment, ensuring that no two shows were alike in tone or rhythm.

Hydra Design’s 2025 calendar spans collaborations with Dior, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Apple, Adidas, Audemars Piguet, Aston Martin, Olivia Dean and Dezeen — solidifying their status as one of the most progressive creative forces in fashion, music and design.
