Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane are absent following the World Cup and Harry Maguire missed last week’s Carabao Cup win over Burnley due to illness.
Casemiro was used as a makeshift at centre-back against Burnley and the Brazilian may be called upon again to partner Victor Lindelof at the heart of the United defence, though United will hope Maguire is fit to return.
Asked whether Maguire would be avialabel to face Forest, Erik ten Hag said on Friday: “I can’t answer because Harry is sick. I don’t know how that develops. We have to wait. Maybe the coming hours, maybe the coming days, and then we will see if he is available for Forest.”
Diogo Dalot also missed the Burnley game through injury so Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be handed another start at right-back.
Without Cristiano Ronaldo following his Old Trafford exit before the World Cup, Anthony Martial could lead the line ahead.
Christian Eriksen, Antony and Marcus Rashford are all in line for starts.
Ten Hag has said he does not think Jadon Sancho will be available.
