Before any hypnosis took place, my therapist and I talked through my relationship with food in detail. Not calories or macros, but memory, habit and reward. I’ve never struggled with recognising hunger; what I struggle with is responding to food simply because it’s there. The smell of pizza, the sight of a cake, the promise of comfort after a long day — all of these had quietly trained my brain to associate food with immediate gratification, regardless of whether my body needed it.
