Blenheim Palace has partnered with Cherwell Collective, the hub for Oxford’s Sustainable Fashion Week (20th-29th September 2024), to host an interactive exhibition and a live runway show.
From Monday 23rd to Friday 27th September, 10am-5pm, visitors can explore the *Carbon Cost of Fashion* exhibition at The Stables Café, Blenheim Palace. This engaging exhibition examines the impact of fast fashion. It features mannequins and hands-on displays that illustrate the stages of textile production throughout history. The exhibition also highlights the need for change and how we can all make more sustainable fashion choices. Using an easy-to-understand “Carbon Cost” approach, it educates visitors on the environmental effects of fast fashion and offers alternatives.
On Tuesday 24th September, there will be a sustainable fashion runway show in the Orangery at Blenheim Palace from 7:30pm to 10pm. This ticketed event will feature over 20 local designers, including Oxfam, showcasing outfits made from recycled or upcycled materials. The event aims to celebrate local innovation and creativity in turning waste materials into fashion. Alongside the runway show, there will be music and food to create a fun and vibrant atmosphere. Guests are encouraged to follow the “dress to progress” dress code to reflect the sustainability theme.
Event producer Anna Sturrock shared her excitement, saying: “We’re thrilled to showcase these incredible local designers. It’s inspiring to see the diverse ways they’ve approached sustainability, proving that there are countless ways to be eco-friendly in fashion.”
General seating tickets for the runway show are £38.62 per person. VIP tables for 10, which include complimentary champagne and canapés, are available for £2,709.21.
The Carbon Cost of Fashion exhibition is free with any valid Blenheim Palace ticket or annual pass.
