The 2025 edition of AFCON in Morocco has been thrilling so far, with the continent’s top sides mostly all performing to expectation.
Nigeria and Algeria have been the standout teams early on, each going perfect with 100 per cent winning records through the groups.
Morocco, Egypt, Senegal and holders Ivory Coast also topped their groups, and it was the Lions of Teranga who became the first team to book their place in the quarter-finals as they overcame a lively Sudan side in Tangier to progress.
10-man Mali then outlasted Tunisia on penalties after extra time, before Morocco edged past Tanzania and South Africa fell to Cameroon.
Nigeria coasted past Mozambique to reach the last eight, while Algeria eked through the DR Congo.
