Birkenstock, the German footwear brand known for its iconic sandals, is returning to its closed-shoe roots with a new collection for Spring/Summer 2025. The lineup features the brand’s signature anatomically designed footbed while introducing contemporary silhouettes in a cohesive taupe colour palette.
The collection builds on Birkenstock’s orthopaedic heritage, which dates back to 1897 when Konrad Birkenstock revolutionised shoemaking with anatomically shaped wooden shoe lasts and custom orthopedic insoles. Though most consumers now associate the brand with sandal styles like Arizona and Boston, Birkenstock’s origins were in closed shoes focused on foot health.

Hero styles in the new collection include the Highwood Low Lace and Utti, both built around the Deep Blue Footbed—a multi-layered construction designed to reduce strain, support stability, and promote natural walking motion. The Birkenstock Bend Decon and Pasadena feature the original cork-latex footbed for lightweight flexibility.
Each model offers distinct design elements while maintaining Birkenstock’s focus on function. The Highwood Low Lace features premium suede uppers and a workwear-inspired TPR outsole, while the Utti presents a minimalist lace-up design with soft suede. The Pasadena showcases hand-stitched construction that enhances flexibility and durability, and the Bend Decon delivers a lightweight sneaker silhouette for urban exploration.
The SS25 campaign highlights how each shoe is engineered for effortless walking in various environments, portraying the footwear as larger-than-life in urban landscapes to emphasize versatility for the modern explorer.
The collection will be available at Birkenstock stores, Birkenstock.com, and select retail partners.
