JEDDAH — The 28th Kanoo T20 Elite Cup kicked off in style with 2 weeks matches played at the JCA Complex. There are a total 16 teams divided in to 2 Groups of 8 teams respectively, each group team plays the other in round robin format. Top 4 teams from each group qualifying for quarterfinals to decide Winner and Runner-up.
Following are the participating teams – Al Burj, ARM United, Asfan CC, BBC, Center Systems Group (CSG), Chinar, Friends XI, ICAD, Jeddah Gladiators, Kashmir Stags, MG Steel, Pak Zalmi, Rehab CC, Royal Jurana, Saeed Maher and United XI. Kanoo league is sponsored by Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group and organized by Jeddah Cricket Association under patronage of Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation (SACF).
In opening week matches, United XI, Rehab, Asfaan, Friends and Chinar comfortably won against their respective opponents to open their account in the Kanoo League. In Week 2 Chinar, Asfaan and Friends continued their winning streak while ARM, ICAD, CSG and Saeed Maher opened their account with convincing wins over their opponents.
Highlights of the 2 weeks were centuries from Zain of Rehab, Owais of ARM, Shakeel of ICAD, Adnan Ayub of CSG and solid all-round performances from Shad Mohammed of Friends, Abdul Salam and Tahir of Saeed Maher and Basharat of United XI.
