About Tom Dixon
Tom Dixon is a British designer who is widely recognized for his work in product design, furniture design, and lighting. Born in Tunisia in 1959 and later moving to England, Dixon became prominent in the 1980s and has since established himself as a key figure in the design world.
Dixon started off with a career in music before discovering a passion for design. He taught himself welding and initially made furniture from salvaged materials. His S-Chair for Cappellini gained him international recognition in the design community. He later became the head of design at the retailer Habitat and was involved with the design company Artek.
In 2002, he established his own brand, Tom Dixon, which specializes in lighting, furniture, and accessories. His work is known for its innovative use of materials and techniques, and he often draws inspiration from Britain’s rich industrial heritage. Dixon’s designs are featured in museums and in private collections around the world, and he has been awarded an OBE for his services to British design. His brand is characterized by a commitment to innovation and a mission to revive the British furniture industry.
