Summer is well and truly here, with its promises of warmer weather, longer evenings and beach holidays. If a trip to the seaside is on the cards for you, you may want to update your swimsuit collection. So let us introduce you to the Banana Moon website.
Launched in 1984, Banana Moon is synonymous with Californian cool, even if it’s a Monaco-based brand. Banana Moon was born when Daniel Flachaire, his wife Veronique and Bernard Donati met young Californian stylist Nat Maori. International success followed, with the swimsuit brand taking the world by storm with its mix of US cool and European know-how.
Over the almost 40 years of the brand’s existence, Banana Moon has included many new lines to its original offering. Ready-to-wear, lingerie and accessories are all available, making Banana Moon a truly beach lifestyle brand. It’s all “about chasing the sun at the beach and catching the waves in style,” they say on their website.
Throughout all its collections, Banana Moon combines sporty-casual with sexiness in a bid for an endless summer journey. The brand declines its playfulness across lines including Couture, Teens, Sports, Children, Men, Clothing and Accessories, a Cruise Collection, and much more.
While sustainability was not necessarily the name of the game for anyone back in 1984, Banana Moon has launched eco-responsible collections since then.
Their Earth Generation Collection includes swimwear made from recycled fishing nets, while the collection Upcycled is about upcycling materials already in their workshops in Monaco. You can also drop off your worn-out swimwear at Banana Moon stores for them to be turned into something new.
The brand has also launched a sustainability programme, which is “about making better choices and finding ways to improve our environmental impact in a circular approach”.
Swimwear trends come and go, but every woman should own a swimsuit she feels amazing in.
For 2023, you’re spoiled for choice in terms of trends to follow, from minimal swimwear in neutral tones to cut-outs for the braver amongst us. Mermaids, meanwhile, are having a moment, thanks to the release of the live action The Little Mermaid. You don’t have to invest in a tail, embellishments such as shells and pearls may be just what you need to update your swimsuit game.
The return of the glittery fabric and the one-shoulder trends are great for those who want something a bit easier to adopt than the cut-outs, cropped and twisted trend.
Or you can go the Banana Moon way and combine trends into one super swimsuit, like the BLACKSAND with its cut-out and shells, or SPRING RED with cut-out and one shoulder top.
Whether you’re after a one piece or a bikini, classic or on trend, there are plenty of choices available from a multitude of brands. From high end to high street, capsule collection to sport-focused, it’s not because it’s summer and you’re wearing very little that what you’re wearing doesn’t matter.
Choosing a swimsuit in which you feel like a star is a must. But keep an eye out on the sustainability creds of your swimsuit brand too. It’s 2023, you can both look good and do good at the same time.
