It’s finally summer and while it means we’re all sweating on the Tube, it also means festivals are back.
Not to be outdone by the rest of the country, London’s festival season is well and truly here. No camping required, grab your mates and head to the park for booze and some music.

THE CLASSICS
British Summer Time Festival
When? 24th June – 9th July
Where? Hyde Park
Need to know: With a line up which includes Guns N’ Roses, P!nk, Blackpink, Take That, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band and Lana Del Rey, you can be sure BST Hyde Park will, like every year, be packed with everyone from your teenage niece to you granny reliving her youth. That is to say: wear what you’d put on for the pub.
Wireless
When? 7th – 9th July
Where? Finsbury Park
Need to know: THE London hip-hop festival is all about spitting bars and throwing on a block party that would make NYC jealous. Put on your trainers and your best hoodie. This year’s line-up is, as always, mind-blowing with 50 Cent, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Latto and Headie One all set to appear.
All Points East
When? 18th – 28th August
Where? Victoria Park
Need to know: All Points East is the event to attend for all East London and 5 years since its launch, the festival is still living up to the hype. This year’s line-up includes Stormzy, Kehlani, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, HAIM, Erykah Badu, Raye and Tove Lo.
DAY EVENTS
Dog Day Afternoon
When? 1st July
Where? Crystal Palace Park
Need to know: Punk is back! Dust off your DMs and your leather jacket and get ready to pogo to Iggy Pop, Blondie, Generation Sex, Buzzcocks and Lambrini Girls.
Community
When? 7th July
Where? Crystal Palace Park
Need to know: Remember the golden days of indie? Well, you can relive them in all their glory for one day in Crystal Palace. Try to squeeze back into your skinny jeans for the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, The Wombats and The Vaccines.
Kaleidoscope
When? 15 July
Where? Alexandra Palace Park
Need to know: If eclectic is what you want from a festival, this may be the one for you. Hot Chip, George Fitzgerald, Erol Alkan AND Joe Lycett and Shaun Keaveney in conversation and Barrioke (karaoke with Barry from Eastenders)? Bring the kids to the bubble displays and enjoy the chaotic energy.
Field Day
When? August 19th
Where? Victoria Park
Need to know: Field Day has made Londoners dance for 16 years and this year it’s back with Aphex Twin, Bonobo and SBTRKT (among others) to fill all our little raver’s hearts to the brim. If you have an outfit you think is too cool to wear anywhere, you can be sure it won’t be out of place here.
THE REST
Greenwich Summer Sounds
When? 4th – 8th July
Where? Old Royal Naval College
Need to know: This is the old-fashioned version of BST, so grab your mum and dad and head to Greenwich’s distinguished Old Royal Naval College for Nile Rogers & CHIC, Tom Jones, Black Eyed Peas and Kaiser Chiefs. You may want to leave the hot pants at home. This is no place for glow sticks and a leotard. Show some respect.
Soho House Festival
When? 6th – 8th July
Where? Gunnersbury Park
Need to know: Sad news but the “unlimited food and drinks” festival from the member’s club is sadly sold out for the Thursday and has, at time of writing, only limited tickets left for the Saturday. The West London extravaganza has music from Sugababes, Tom Grennan, Annie Mac, Kelis, Honey Dijon and Kojey Radical, with headline spots for Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics with Jules Buckley and the Essential Orchestra.
EXODUS
When? 8th – 9th July
Where? Secret location
Need to know: If there was one festival to go all out raver for, this is the one. Did you know legendary club Fabric never put on a festival? Well, it’s all changing this year and while shrouded in mystery – secret location anyone? – it’s sure to be a hit. Fabric knows how to throw a party, so we’re not worried about the music or the drinks.
South Facing
When? 28 July – 13 August
Where? Crystal Palace Park
Need to know: Is it a festival or just a series of concerts across multiple dates? Who cares, when the likes of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Rudimental Live, Primal Scream, Jesus and Mary Chain, First Aid Kit and Craig David are involved.
Pub in the Park
When? Until 3 September
Where? Multiple locations
Need to know: It’s all about food and family-friendly fun at Pub in the Park. There are three events – in Wimbledon, Dulwich and Chiswick – and a wonderfully eclectic line-up with The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club, McFly, Clean Bandit, Tinie Tempah and Bananarama all scheduled.
