A lunar eclipse is visible above Canary Wharf in London as the full moon passes into Earth’s shadow. Unlike in other parts of the world, except for some extreme western areas of the UK, the eclipse will be almost entirely partial. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth, sun, and moon are almost exactly in line and the moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the sun. Picture date: Friday March 14, 2025. PA Photo. According to the Royal Astronomical Society, some people living in the west of the UK may see a total lunar eclipse with the naked eye – weather permitting. Others in the east and south east of England are only expected to be able to see a partial lunar eclipse. This is because the Moon won’t be completely within the Earth’s shadow by the time it sets. See PA story WEATHER Eclipse. Photo credit should read: Yui Mok/PA Wire
