Alexandria: The London High Jewellery House Redefining Modern Masculinity

A new force has entered London’s luxury scene, and it arrives with imperial clarity. Alexandria, a men’s high jewellery house founded by Ryan Bernell, launches with a collection of 18k gold rings inspired by three historic leaders: Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar and Genghis Khan.

While the women’s high jewellery market thrives, men have traditionally encountered far fewer options. Alexandria steps into that space with designs that merge sculptural confidence, refined craftsmanship and narrative depth.

A Decade-Long Search That Sparked a Brand

Bernell created Alexandria after more than ten years searching for jewellery that felt both elegant and decisively masculine. Throughout that period, he noticed a clear void in the luxury landscape.

“Jewellery for men often lacked the strength or artistry I wanted,” he says. “We design for men who know exactly who they are, and every piece must match that clarity and confidence.”

As a result, Alexandria’s debut collection positions each ring as a contemporary heirloom with presence and permanence.

The Debut Collection: Rings Inspired by Empires

Khan’s Dominion

This design honours the vast Mongol Empire. It pairs a sculpted horseman in 18k yellow gold with A-grade Siberian nephrite jade or guilloché grand feu enamel. Additionally, the shield-like border draws from traditional Mongolian armour, giving the ring an assertive architectural structure.

Face of Rome

Face of Rome celebrates Julius Caesar through a raised portrait set against deep red, kiln-fired enamel. The ring’s shoulders echo the form of the Roman Scutum shield, and two natural rubies add a vivid, ceremonial note. Together, these elements reinterpret Rome’s grandeur for a modern audience.

Alexander the Great

This design reimagines an ancient drachm as a carved cameo in white agate. Two smaller cameos of Zeus and Bucephalus frame the central portrait, creating a three-part narrative that evokes Alexander’s legend and lifelong mythology.

Alexandria plans to expand the collection with pendants, necklaces and objets d’art, further developing its historically driven design language.

Craftsmanship: Old Techniques, New Expression

Alexandria positions craftsmanship at the heart of its identity. Each piece uses solid 18k gold and gemstones selected for colour, quality and character. Moreover, guilloché engine-turning and grand feu enamel introduce refined detailing that recalls Fabergé objects and early watchmaking traditions.

Every enamel shade holds symbolic intent: deep green evokes the Mongol steppe, while crimson reflects Roman imperial power. In addition, The Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office hallmarks each piece, placing Alexandria firmly within Britain’s heritage of fine goldsmithing.

Because specialist workshops in the UK and Europe craft each ring to order, lead times range from three to ten weeks depending on complexity.

A Bespoke, Collector-Focused Approach

Alexandria offers private UK viewings, bespoke commissions and custom variations of its core designs. Clients can request alternative gemstones, personalised enamel colours or one-of-a-kind objets d’art. Furthermore, all commissions include complimentary worldwide insured delivery.

The brand is already exploring relationships with select retailers and private-client advisers who share its collector-led philosophy. Private appointments open in December 2025, allowing clients to experience the collection in person.

Bernell sees Alexandria as a long-term proposition rather than a trend-driven launch. “These pieces should outlast their first owners,” he says. “They’re meant to become part of a family’s story.”

A New Chapter for Men’s High Jewellery

Through its imperial references, strong silhouettes and rigorous craftsmanship, Alexandria arrives as a notable shift in the men’s jewellery landscape. It offers men a richer visual language and greater expressive freedom, while giving the luxury market a fresh perspective rooted in history and intention.
