iverpool could hand Cody Gakpo a debut in Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Wolves in what would prove a much-needed fitness boost for the Reds.

A long injury list now includes Virgil van Dijk after the defender was ruled out for around six weeks with a hamstring issue that requires specialist treatment.

Roberto Firmino is a doubt to feature in an attack that will be without Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota due to long-term issues.

Arthur Melo will also miss out but Liverpool will hope to welcome James Milner back from a thigh injury along with Jordan Henderson after concussion.

With Premier League opposition at Anfield and declining chances of a trophy this season, it will be interesting to see how much Jurgen Klopp rotates his squad for the visit of Wolves.

Ibrahima Konate may drop out after a torrid time in last weekend’s defeat to Brentford while Andrew Robertson is fit to start, if called upon.

Young midfielder Stefan Bajcetic is a candidate for a starting berth while Caoimhin Kelleher will resume his role as cup goalkeeper.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Matip, Robertson; Jones, Bajcetic, Henderson; Salah, Firmino, Gakpo.
