rentford and Liverpool face off on Monday evening as they both look to take their fine recent form into 2023.
The Bees have beaten West Ham and Manchester City and were unlucky to draw with Tottenham, in their last three days, while Liverpool have racked up four straight league wins.
Ivan Toney, who should be fit, has been in particularly good form, but faces the looming deadline of January 4 to respond to the Football Association’s charges of 262 alleged breaches of betting rules, so his availability beyond this game remains in doubt.
Darwin Nunez, on the other hand, continues to struggle in front of goal, after another infuriating blank against Leicester.
Here are all the details…
Date, kick-off time and venue
Brentford vs Liverpool is scheduled for a 5.30pm GMT kick-off on Monday, January 2, 2023.
The match will take place at Gtech Community Stadium.
Ivan Toney is expected to feature.

Brentford vs Liverpool team news
Brentford are confident Ivan Toney will be fit for the game after being stretchered off against West Ham. Both Kristoffer Ajer and Aaron Hickey are nearing a return to first-team action but will not be risked for the visit of Liverpool.
Thomas Frank added: “[Thomas] Strakosha is getting closer … Shandon [Baptiste] is still out with a groin injury and Frank [Onyeka] won’t play – he’s got a hamstring injury.”
Klopp on ‘big’ signing Cody Gakpo and January transfer window
Liverpool could hand a debut to January signing Cody Gakpo, which means Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could make way if thrown in from the off.
Both Harvey Elliott and Andy Robertson will be assessed ahead of kick-off after picking up knocks. Fabinho missed the win over Leicester due to his wife giving birth, so it remains to be seen if he is available.
Brentford vs Liverpool prediction
Brentford are oozing confidence at the moment, and rightly so, but were allowed to get into their groove against both West Ham and Tottenham, a priviledge I can’t see Liverpool affording them.
Liverpool look a completely different beast to just a few months ago – though did ride their luck against Leicester – and we should be served up an entertaining game in west London. Let’s hope Darwin Nunez finds his shooting boots, for once.
