The Paris Olympics are fully underway after an action-packed first full day.
10.40am: Women’s gymnastics qualifying
Paris will get its first look at Simone Biles, as the American superstar joins her team-mates in the all-important qualifying session at the Bercy Arena, which will determine who goes for gold in each of the team and individual finals later in the programme. Britain go in the earlier sub-division from 8.30am.
4.45pm: Women’s canoe slalom K1
On to the waters of the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium, where Kimberley Woods will be looking to put the disappointment of a 10th-placed finish at Tokyo behind her, though the 28-year-old’s best hope for gold may come later in the fortnight, in the chaotic kayak cross discipline, where she is the reigning world champion.
4.49pm: Judo, women’s -52kg class
It could be a busy half-hour. Chelsie Giles, the Tokyo bronze medalist, is Team GB ‘s big hope on the judo mat, and provided she comes through the morning qualifying rounds, will be targeting another medal on Sunday afternoon.
8.44pm: Men’s 100m breaststroke final
If Britain are not on the medal table come half-past eight on Sunday evening, then they surely will be by 9pm. But what colour will it be?
Adam Peaty is looking to retain the crown he won in both Rio and Tokyo, despite a tumultuous three years in and out of the sport since the last Games. His rivalry with China’s Qin Haiyang is set to come to a head at La Defense Arena, with just a quarter of a second between their best times this year.

TV channel: The BBC has announced it will broadcast two live streams of the action from July 27 to August 11 – for the duration of the Games. This will be on BBC One, BBC Two or a stream available by clicking the red button on Freeview or a smart TV.
There is reduced coverage compared with previous years, however, when BBC broadcasted everything from archery to wrestling live on its website or channels. Instead, Discovery+ is the rights holder for Paris 2024 and is showing every moment across Eurosport channels in the UK from 7am-10.30pm every day.
Live stream: Fans can also catch the BBC coverage live online for free via the BBC Sport website and BBC iPlayer. The Discovery+ app will be showing extensive coverage, which begins at a monthly fee of £3.99.
Highlights: The BBC will be showing a nightly highlights show called Today at the Games.
